The return of school

Hey Everyone
How are you all?

School been on for the last few days, sorry I couldn't blog, I had tons of work that just had to be done. Here, let me show you a list of the stuff I had to do just to prove it:

  • 25 mini exams (over 400 questions), tutor work (this was bloody insane!, and there is still 75 more mini exams to go!, I'll keep you posted)
  • mining poster (I do not want to hear another word about open-pit mining ever again!)
  • history major practice exam, (this was 3 pages of bullshit*mostly bullshit on Alexander the Great, I'll probably get an A+)
  • Ag fact sheet: One page of stuff on embryo transfer and oestrous synchronisation in cows
  • History Migrants assignment: this stuff was pretty easy, but the info was tough to get.

Anyway that was my whinge on homework and why I couldn't blog. Now let me describe to you a few interesting stuff that happened in the last few days.

On the last weekend of the holidays my brother this really cool computer game called Empire: Total War (Yay! my first link), I'm totally hooked on it and I've been playing it on and off for the past few days, I really like it because it actually makes me think really hard on what to do and the graphics are cool. My brother installed it on his laptop but I'm playing it because of all the stuff cough*uni assignments I've helped him on.

On Thursday I went to sleep real early for me, about nine thirty, so early that I didn't set my alarm or pack my things (I just shut my eyes and fell asleep on my bed, I know that's tough to believe). Anyway, since I didn't set my alarm I woke up about five minutes before (7:35) my dad was due to go to work (I travel with him to the station). One big rush later I was on the 7:51 train, I still don't know how that happened.

Also on Thursday I read Victor's blog, a lot posts (did I mention I like reading?*weak joke) later my opinion of Victor changed, albeit slightly since I already knew some of it. He seemed so sad in his posts at times and I almost felt sorry for him (I don't like pitying other people because they wouldn't want it and I myself would feel worse if I knew someone pitied me). Anyway I felt really sad and guilty because I had pretty much saw through him for the time I've been around him, his a bit like Kevin, always in the background and a bit anti-social, when I read his blog he was so pessimistic about life because of his experiences so I decided to be more friendly to him from now on. Now I'm going to read his blog and ab's blog daily because not only was it interesting but also emotive.

Here look at these funny pictures I found:

Random Rant:
Great, I forgot what I was going to say
This is because it took ages to get those pics in the right place
Oh yeah! now I remember!
I always do really bad at English, its my worst subject because it can be really difficult to practice for, my average is around 60%. I do really bad at the essays, every single essay has been a disaster, but the fact that aggravates me is that while I do 60% at English essays, I get 95% and over on the History essays! It really pisses me off! On an History essay last year I got A++ from Miss Metua and a comment saying my essay was one the best in the year! At the same time this is happening, Mrs Keegan gave me a 11 out of 20 for an English essay! This happens all the time! I do fantastic in History (which is why its my major), and jack shit (excuse the language, I'm really annoyed) in English, which is supposed to be the cousin of History. This says one of four things: that the History staff are very lenient markers, the English staff are very tough markers, that I am somehow a unimaginably better at History then I am at English or that the whole year is better at English while really bad at History. Anyway, I'm done ranting for this post.
Thanks for reading, I'll finish up for today, not sure when the next post will be so watch this space everyone!
By the way, feel free to comment and sorry for any spelling and grammar mistakes.

The last Monday of Freedom!

Hi everyone

Its lurking out there, waiting patiently, it knows its going to get me eventually, its waiting in the darkness, waiting for the perfect moment to pop up. Guess what it is, its the dreaded half-yearly exams! Its only Monday and I'm already dreading the end of the school holidays and with it the half-yearly exams.

Here's what happened today. I got up around noon, started work on the tutors homework which took five hours and its still not done! (nowhere near done, should stop daydreaming, zoning off, easily distracted etc. but its huge!). Around five thirty, dad came home and died (STOP ZONING OFF INTO RANDOM THOUGHTS!), sorry, dad came home (random words came into my head just then) and had lunch/dinner. It was freezing in the afternoon, (I was walking around in my pj's and a bathrobe, surprisingly warm) and it rained a lot, putting off a trip to Mathew's till tomorrow. At half-past six mum and dad started watching Bengali movies on the net and I've been spending the evening working on and off, an uneventful day. But tonight, around midnight, I'm going to start watching the IPL (I know its late but I deserve something entertaining after all that work!

Wow, this was a short post for me

What a long time its been

Hi everyone
Wow, its been ages since I've blogged. This is because I've been busy at functions or someone else has been using the laptop (brother). Don't worry, I'll describe whats been happening in the past few days, its pretty interesting. Sorry about the long wait, here's what been happening from Wednesday to Sunday.

On Wednesday I was pretty much alone at home and went to my friend Matthew's place and played some PS3 there, he found himself an Xbox 360 and spray-painted the face and posted the video on YouTube (I would create a link but I don't know how). Then I came home and waited for the afternoon to come, this afternoon we (my family) were going to a restaurant with our cousins apparently to celebrate my birthday (which was a month ago) because they didn't have the time to do it then. The meal was good and I got myself a box of Lebanese sweets (the Lebanese may be a little crazy but they make one hell of a sweet). That's why I couldn't blog on Wednesday.

On Thursday my brother was frantically running around to do his Uni assignment which was due the following day, why he didn't do it earlier I don't know. Anyway, he was hogging the laptop and running around, typing and so on. I was working a little and was generally trying to help him out, this earned me a rebuke from my dad who told me to work on my own stuff. That's why I couldn't blog on Thursday.

On Friday I was frantically doing my work for my tutor. However, I was interrupted by my parents who wanted me to go to the post office with them to renew my passport. This I felt they could have done themselves but I had to go along and wait around in the post office for my dad to run around photocopying birth certificates, citizenship certificates, death certificates (just kidding on that one). By the time we got home it was right on five o'clock, I was very annoyed at this as if we had come earlier I could have studied, if I had come later I could have missed my tutor all together but now I had to go unprepared which I thought would be very bad. I was right, the time at the tutor was a disaster and I got told off for not studying hard enough. When I got home I had a massive amount of work to do and I worked all night long, from 7pm up to 2.30am, I still haven't got that work done now. That's why I couldn't blog on Friday.

Saturday was a good and bad day. Good because the IPL (Indian Premier League) was starting and because we were going to the Boishakhi Mela (its a Bengali new year festival is held all over the sub-continent), bad because I got into fight with my brother (the fight started over a cup, I know that sounds ridiculous). The fight started in the morning at breakfast (you should know that I am sometimes very paranoid about hygiene, I sometimes resort to extreme measures to stay away from germs), my brother was using my glass to drink a cup of tea, this annoyed me greatly as I had bought that cup to avoid sharing another cup me and brother had unconsciously shared. I promptly told him to put the tea in another cup, tensions escalated and a classic testosterone fuelled fight started, my brother threatened to burn me with a gas lighter after mishearing gibberish for swearing and I threatened to disembowel him with a kitchen knife after he kicked me. Luckily the matter diffused after that and we both cooled of, this however left me in a sour mood when we were going to the Boishaki Mela, on the way there however we both both made up and he bought me chocolates. The Mela (festival) is held in Homebush and a funny fact was that we went straight past the Royal Easter Show. The Mela was held in the Olympic athletics arena and there were thousands of people in the stands and wandering around the stalls on the ground. We split up and I ate a lot of Moglay Pourata (fried pastry with egg and chili on the inside. I was slightly annoyed as I could have spent that time doing the massive amount of homework given to me by the tutor and watching the opening of the IPL instead of standing around doing nothing but this only happens once a year and we met a lot of old friends. There were fireworks at 9 o'clock and a funny fact was that after our fireworks had ended, the fireworks for the Easter Show started. We then went home, dropping my brother off at work, we arrived home around eleven o'clock and promptly started watching the IPL. We only missed an innings (I won't be a sports commentator) and watched cricket until four in the morning (well I did anyway). That's why I couldn't blog on Saturday.

Now its Sunday and I have just spent the last 2 hours blogging (making up for lost time I suppose), nothing interesting has happened and probably won't. I too tired to do a random rant so I'll sign off here.

Until next time

A strange Tuesday

Hey Everyone

Today was a pretty strange day, hence the title which involved me getting up too early, having a strange dream (random rant) and a lot of time somehow being wasted. Now I am hurrying to get this done and all the other stuff that I had to do. The IPL cricket starts in four days!

Yesterday I went to sleep at like 8.30 which is like super early for me. Next thing I know I wake up at 3.30am and simply can go back to sleep. My theory for this is that I usually go to sleep at 1-2am (its homework, yeah I know I'm leaving late) and wake up at 7 to go to school, due to this I only sleep about 6 hours so this is probably why I woke up at half past three. So I spent the next 5 hours working a bit and mainly playing GTA (gotta stop doing that) on DS. At 8 o'clock I promptly fell back to sleep (strange huh?) and woke up at 11.30am. The next three hours passed in a blur of GTA and lunch. At 3pm I went to my friend Matthew's (not M Hall) house, there I got crushed in COD4, saw "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle" and read a PS magazine. I just made it home before 5pm which usually heralds the arrival of dad but luckily he arrived late. Now I'm blogging on the laptop.

Here, look at this funny pic: (nice kitty)

Random Rant
Have you ever had strange dreams? It happens to me regularly, things are really weird in my dreams, such as being out of place and not making sense. Today I had a dream where I was at school and things were really weird (I wrote it down after I woke up at 3.30am). Cameron asked me what period we had even though he wasn't in my class since Year 8, I arrived English really late somehow and Mrs Keegan (my teacher in Year 9) told me off. Eric somehow made in into my English class even though he he isn't in my class and most weirdly of all, Mrs Keegan was talking about how the class was working on a few English examples and eggs (yes, something to do with eggs). If you are wondering I didn't make that up, yesterday I dreamed about a big flood covering my house. Science says that we dream 8-9 times a day and that it is a gateway into the sub-conscience. If the last bit is true then there is something clearly not right in my brain. To finish on a funny note, my brother got extremely annoyed a few weeks back when I forgot to sign off in msn. My friends kept contacting him and he really got angry, this is because he was working on a uni assignment (watching Bengali dramas most likely) and apparently Cameron contacted him 17 times.

Comments (back to one)
Ab: Thanks for the comment, we all have a ton of work.

Well, until next time:

Mournful Monday

Hi Everyone!

As you see I am now using alliteration in my titles. I couldn't post yesterday as I went to this place called Palm Beach (I'll describe it later). The frequency of my posts is going to vary because I'm using my dad's laptop and if I use too often he will go nuts. I've managed to convince him that blogging is good "English practice" as my English teacher told us all to write diary's to get practice but I don't want to push my luck.

On Sunday I was playing GTA: Chinatown wars for most of the morning. At noon we went to Palm Beach (no idea why we went, a trip?) which was about 80km north of Sydney. The journey took two and a half hours, the first hour I played GTA in the car then my head went all dizzy and I feel asleep for the rest of the trip. When I wake up there are spectacular million dollar hours perched on the side a steep ridge to my right and an inlet of water to my left, my first thought was "were the hell is the beach?". With this inquiry unanswered we the ate some fish n' chips for $20! Well we had two serves, but still that's a rip off. By about three o'clock we left, on our way back we went past a brilliant beach with lifeguards and large waves (so that's were Palm beach was, oh well a missed opportunity), play GTA on DS all the way back with shorts breaks to alleviate bouts of dizziness. We accidentally went into the E-tag lanes on the M2 toll booths due to me and had to pay a $3 penalty (how was I supposed to know E-money meant pay-in-cash). We got back around six and I played GTA some more. At eight thirty I watched BONES, one of my favourite shows (I like watching the social interactions between the characters and the crimes, not the highly realistic and macabre decomposed corpses which I constantly remind myself are fake and made by prop makers) for two hours. I then played GTA till three in the morning (time flies when you have fun) and then fell asleep.

Today I got up around 11 and played GTA (I finally finished the storyline!) while hearing about the rescue of that captain that got kidnapped by those pirates. Now I'm on the computer blogging and doing random stuff. Mum hit her head in the bathroom and had to be taken to hospital, just joking she was fine and only needed an ice pack. The reason why I called this post Mournful Monday is that after I go off I have to do alot of work *sigh.

Random Rant
While I'm the computer I'll talk about the computer usage, my older/cooler/outgoing brother hogs the computer nearly everyday, its infuriating to see my brother watch stupid Bengali dramas for 12 hours straight. He watches TV at early in the morning (doesn't even put the sound down) because his sleeping patterns are messed up as he works night shifts as a petrol station attendant (more pay and a lot less work). My parents don't do much about it as he loaned them $60000 to pay of the mortgage. Last week my dad went to work one hour early thanks to daylight savings and everyones forgetfulness (at least he didn't go an hour late).

Comments (yay! two)
Ab: Your reading more? I didn't notice (then again I don't notice much)
Victor: Maybe I'll start to use Mozilla FireFox

Wow, this was a long post
Until next time:

Cool Saturday

Hi everyone!

Awww, only one comment, oh well. Well as anyone can guess I had a great Saturday heres what happened; did minimal work/study, played some (alot) of PS3, went on the net and got a new ds game called GTA: Chinatown wars. That pretty much sums up my day. I keep it short because I didn't want to get too boring (unlike ab who can type hundreds of words to descride his day and can keep it interesting).

So how has the holidays been for me?

Well its a mixed bag, on one hand I get a ton of free time to do stuff and on the other I'm expected to complete a lot more work then I usually do. Yesterday I went to my maths tutor (its private, three guys in a garage working on complex maths), my tutor is the sort of guy that makes you want to do extremely tough maths, I don't know how he does it. He used to teach Advanced 4 unit Math in Uni and shows the easy ways to get around tough stuff, yesterday I learned logarithms (we were catching up as he forgot to teach us earlier) and got a sympathetic reaction to my disastrous maths result (the damn test was too long!).

Now I'll talk about a topic from the last post: my addiction to reading. I like to read books (especially fiction) as they take my mind of things. This is usually okay but for me it became like a drug, like a personal alcohol. I would pick up a book and keep reading until I was finished several hours later, this of course had negative impacts on my life as you can guess. So I tried to stop reading but failed miserably as the books kept dragging me back in. So now, I try to limit what I read, I simply don't bother picking up new books by not going to the library (that often). Please don't think of me as a freak/moron, I'm pretty introverted and shy but I'm trying to change that.

Random Rant

When I look at other peoples blogs they look so pro and creative, this makes me slightly embarrassed about my lack of computing knowledge and creativity. Oh yeah, did you know the internet turned 20 a few days ago? The IPL is on in 7 days (yay!). I'm not sure what to exactly talk about on my blog because the holiday makes things so boring. Other peoples blogs look so cool, like AB's, mango's, John's and others that I can't remember *sigh. My memory is still pretty bad (why is pretty an adjective for bad?).

Comments
Ab: You win a free mars bar (after man has walked on mars) and sorry about the mistakes I don't get time to proof read.

Feel free to comment everybody

P.S: sorry for any spelling errors

P.P.S: Wohoo!, I found Spellcheck!

Hi Everyone!

Most of you don't know me, thats why i've named the blog "from the secret life of Shafi". Most of you have probably came here because you were bored or curious so i'll make it as interesting as possible. I'm not sure what to write about, i could talk about my day like ab, talk philosophy like John V, or talk about myself like alot of other people. I think i'll do mixture of everything.

Most of you know me as an anti-social bookworm and as a nerd. The first statement is true as i am pretty shy and i do have a softspot books (i'll explain later) however, the second statement is false, this is because i don't know the first thing about computers and i do very bad in English and Science (and i don't wear glasses). This misconception comes from the fact that i am friends with several well known nerds however some of my friends are clearly not nerds here, let me show you a list of my friends/aquaintenices:

  • Ian: Great friend, always helps with anything, loves dogs, calls himself (and me*groan) nerds, usually reliable with assignments,
  • Ab: Good friend, calls himself a nerd (and proud of it), reads books, for some reason loves 13, into marshal arts, loves Queen (at the moment)
  • Cam: Computer geek, lovesick, likes banjo/other instruments,
  • Eric: Reasonably cool guy, likes to point out my flaws/mistakes, good pianist, likes coldplay, rich kid, very creative
  • Mango: just a casual aquaintence, you probably know more about him than me
  • Kevin: Nice, quiet guy who swears alot (in front of me anyway)
  • Victor: Cool guy, loves heavy metal, can do awesome stuff with body due to some kind of diffiency,
  • Matt H: an okay friend, saddist (and proud of it), been through tough times, loves his cat, not an emo, does cool stuff,
  • John V: (just remembered), nice guy who is prone to swearing, good friend

These are just random thoughts that come to mind when i think of them, i hope i haven't upset any them (i'll probably know through hate mail/comments). As you see, i have a wide variety of friends/aquaintences, and don't know alot about them (feel free to correct me).

One of my flaws which alot of you probably know is my bad memory. My memory is pathetic. If you are reading and don't talk to me alot, then there is a good chance i don't know your're name. I know the name, i just can't match it with the face, i am trying to rectify this. Another flaw is that sometimes i forget to write the words i'm thinking eg. this is a nice day becomes this nice day i hope this hasn't happened.

Sorry if it sounds as if i'm ranting on about myself, i'll try to talk more about other stuff in later posts. Now to talk/rant about other/random stuff! (sorry if there is any mistakes)

Freedom! the holidays are here! but still there is sooo much work to do History,Ag, Maths Tutor to name but a few, and the half-exams, i know they are six weeks away but they somehow manage to creep up on me, oh well. My dad doesn't like the idea of a blog, he thinks i should be studying for anything/everything. But my parents are allright, there is a mutual agreement between us, i don't do any chores whatsoever and they forget to give me pocket money (they do give me lunch money though). I'm so uncreative! most of my ideas come from other people, i don't have a creative bone in my body. You only get 650 000 hours, so enjoy them! Other peoples blogs are so cool! (ab, mango, John V).

Okay, thats the end of that rant and this post. Feel free to comment

Bye!
